Time stops The exhale of your breath lingers I hold my breath Not wanting to steal the air from you The air that was once yours The air that once filled your lungs You exhaled no longer needing it But I needed you And I'd gladly give up all the breath I had in me if it could fill you with life Fill you with health Because now, I stop, but the world picks back up Keeps moving because it never stopped as I watched the last breath leave your lips It never noticed you were tired It never noticed how much I'd miss you when you'd leave And though I knew you'd leave the sting is merciless The pain unforgiving
